Ramos-Horta Will Survive
February 12th 2008 03:38
Following on from reports detailing the assassination attempt on Jose Ramos-Horta by Timorese rebels. It now appears that the Nobel Prize Laureate will survive.
Ramos-Horta was airlifted to Darwin last night following the assassination attempt, which left him with three bullet wounds in the stomach and chest, and Australian doctors are now saying that it looks like the Timorese President will survive.
The leaders of the world’s ‘democracies’ – including our own Kevin Rudd – have denounced the assassination attempt as an ‘attack on democracy’ and the world seems to be throwing all their support behind the wounded president.
"The attempt to assassinate the democratically elected leadership of a close friend and neighbour of Australia's is a deeply disturbing development," said Rudd
The two rebels responsible for the attack, including rebel leader and former military man Alfredo Reinado, were shot down and killed following the assassination attempt and we at politicalwriting.net see the imminent recovery of Ramos-Horta and the death of the government’s greatest foe as something the world’s democracies could only be happy with.
